Legendary BBC DJ John Peel died today. His influence on the UK music scene was immeasurable. In particular, the UK punk scene couldn't have thrived without him. His 10-12pm Monday-Thursday show was the only place you could hear the music. Saturday was the day you went out to buy the records you'd heard on the Peel show during the week. The Sex Pistols never did record one of his famous sessions, but post-Pistols projects, Rich Kids, Public Image Limited, and The Professionals all did. RIP John 1939 - 2004.
